Establish a Handicap
One of the interesting things about golf is how gambling/betting, or just your basic foursome games are played in different areas of the country. Each area tends to have some uniqueness, and Mobile is no different. The most amazing thing about golf in Mobile is that people do not use handicap's when making their game. It is like there is a mistrust of everyone in having an accurate handicap, or a lack of understanding as to how the handicap system works.
I don't know if it has been a lack of education on the golf pro's side, but the USGA Handicap system is the fairest way to play against each other. What I see here is that people try and level the playing field with distance. They let people play from different sets of tees depending on how far they hit the ball or by their age. This does not work, because the golf course is not rated the same from each set of tees. Everyone is not playing the same golf course, and if the player from the up tees plays to his handicap, and the player from the back tees plays to his handicap, the up player wins every time. Learn how to use the handicap system correctly, it gives you many more games and options on how to play.
